Former Country Head, India Product, Google
Lalitesh is the former country head of India products at Google and leads Emerging Markets engineering with the mission to bring the next three billion users online. His most recent creation, Google Map Maker, doubled the world’s digital maps corpus, mapping 1.5 billion people in 187 countries. Lalitesh co-founded Google’s first international engineering center in 2004. Prior to Google, Lalitesh served on the faculty of Carnegie Mellon where he founded its Lunar Rover program and went on to found a robotics start-up which was acquired by Google in 2002. The UN and aid agencies have used these user generated maps to assist and rescue millions. Lalitesh has spoken at TED and the White House on crowdsourcing for development.
