Action For India, a not-for-profit organization, the Department of Electronics and Information
Technology (DeitY), and the Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS), Hyderabad have
partnered to organize India’s first national conference on social innovation and technology. The goal of the conference is to bring together decision makers in government and technology companies, along with social innovators, in order to foster collaborations for scaling social impact in India.
The conference organizers are inviting from the various states as many as 50 senior IAS officers, who will be meeting with leading social innovators and technology executives to share successful innovations and plan a way forward for more collaboration among social innovators, technology executives, and government officials.
The conference will feature keynote addresses by two of the most inspiring and influential leaders in the field of social enterprise: Sam Pitroda and Desh Deshpande. Mr. Pitroda is Advisor to the Prime Minister of India and is also Chair of India’s National Innovation Council. Mr. Deshpande is a successful serial entrepreneur and, as co-chair of the U.S. National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, advises U.S. President Barack Obama. He is also the founder of the Deshpande Foundation.
The event will launch a new program of activity at Action For India, in partnership with government agencies, technology companies, and the social sector. There is great potential for this event to be annualized in order to promote public-private partnerships and cross-sector collaborations in the sectors of education, healthcare, energy, livelihood, and agriculture.
The conference is by invitation only.
