Abha Bakaya

Abha Bakaya has over 10 years of experience in TV production, news reporting, live TV segments, and lifestyle show host. She has been in her current role as News Editor & Anchor for almost 3 years at the publication. She began her career as a Correspondent at Business Today Magazine back in 2002, she then moved to CNBC TV 18 in 2004 as a Producer and held the role for 2 years. She has also worked at NDTV Profit, NDTV Good Times and ET Now, before joining Bloomberg UTV (now Bloomberg TV India). Career Interview Highlights include corporate leaders Zia Mody, Uday Kotak, Naina lal Kidwai, Adi Godrej, Analjit Singh, Ajay Piramal, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, and management guru Marshall Goldsmith. She has a special interest in the social entrepreneurship space in India.

Bloomberg UTV, business news channel owned and operated by UTV in India, decided to change its name to Bloomberg TV India with effect from August 13, 2012. The new identity aims to establish a stronger position of the international partner, Bloomberg Television. Bloomberg TV India is India's premier business news channel that focuses on business news & policy. The channel is headed by Editor Vivek Law & features path breaking programming that focuses on delivering cutting edge analysis by a wide range of experts. Bloomberg India TV is part of the Bloomberg, the world's largest finance news network.

Desh Deshpande

Gururaj Desh Deshpande is the President and Chairman of Sparta Group LLC, and Chairman of A123 Systems (AONE), Sycamore Networks (SCMR), Tejas Networks and HiveFire. Prior to co-founding Sycamore Networks, Dr. Deshpande was founder and chairman of Cascade Communications Corp. Dr. Deshpande holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras, an M.E. from the University of New Brunswick in Canada, and Ph.D from Queens University in Canada.

Dr. Deshpande serves as a life-member of the MIT Corporation, and his generous support has made possible MIT’s Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation. Leveraging the experience gained at the MIT Center, the Deshpande Foundation has helped establish three other centers; Deshpande Center for Social Entrepreneurship in India, Merrimack Valley Social Entrepreneurship Sandbox in Lowell/Lawrence Massachusetts and Pond-Deshpande Center at the University of New Brunswick in Canada. Dr. Deshpande co-chairs a National Council to support President Obama’s innovation and entrepreneurship strategy.

Sanjay Kadaveru
Sanjay Kadaveru

Sanjay is Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives at Hetero Drugs. Sanjay has over 15 years of international experience in the VC/PE & management consulting domains. Sanjay is also co-founder and Board Member at the Center for Healthcare Innovation, a not-for-profit thought-leadership organization focusing on the life sciences. Sanjay is a Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and served as a Co-Chair for TiECON East, one of the largest innovation focused conferences in the US. Earlier, Sanjay founded the AP Technology Leadership Council, a non-profit networking organization created to provide pro-bono business consulting services to civic and governmental causes in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Sanjay is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Shiv Khemka

Mr. Shiv Khemka has more than 20 years of investment and business experience, principally focused on Russia and India. After having headed up the family’s Latin American activities in the 1980s, Shiv Khemka began leading SUN's investment and entrepreneurial activities in Russia and Ukraine in 1990, building a significant example of successful foreign direct and private equity investing into Russia, SUN InterBrew. He also established and led one of the first private equity funds in Russia, SUN Capital Partners.

Shiv Khemka was elected a “Global Leader for Tomorrow” at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 1997, and was invited to join the Forum’s “Foreign Business Leaders’ Council” for Russia. Shiv Khemka serves on the EAME board of The Wharton School and on the Board of Governors of The Lauder Institute, as well as on the Advisory Board of the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Shiv Khemka also participates in the work of the Council of the Moscow School of Management “Skolkovo”, where he is one of the founders and partners. He is a member of the board of Eurasia Group in New York, the International Advisory Council at the International Crisis Group, and the Young President’s Organisation. Shiv Khemka is Chairman of the Russia Country Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry. In November 2006, Shiv Khemka was awarded the Wharton India Alumni Award.

Educated at Eton College, Shiv Khemka received a BA from Brown University, an MBA with distinction from The Wharton School and Master’s in International Studies from The Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania.

Jeevan Kumar

Jeevan Kumar is an investment professional working with Unitus Capital, a boutique investment bank focused on raising capital for companies that impact the low-income population. At Unitus Capital, he has advised several companies, across healthcare, financial services, and energy sectors, on raising capital. Jeevan was also part of the initial team at Unitus Seed Fund, contributing significantly towards its four maiden investments. Prior to Unitus Capital, Jeevan was part of SunGrid team, an experimental cloud based initiative at Sun Microsystems. Jeevan earned his post-graduate diploma in business management from XLRI, Jamshedpur and computer engineering degree from NIT, Surathkal. Jeevan has a passion for entrepreneurship and enjoys working with innovative early stage companies.

Vishal Mehta

Vishal is co-founder of Lok Advisory Services and he started its operations in India in late 2004. Since then he has played the lead role in building Lok Capital as a premier venture capital fund focused on investing in base of the pyramid enterprises.

Prior to Lok, Vishal worked for about a decade in delivering marketing and business development services in the financial services and telecom sector, both in developed as well as developing economies. He worked with one of the largest issuers of credit cards in US, Capital One and led their sub-prime outbound telemarketing vertical. Prior to that he was working primarily in the telecom sector where he began his career in India during the first round of privatization and mobile technology licensing in early-mid nineties. He managed several key operator accounts for Siemens in India and worked on launching new wireless equipment in Malaysia and Germany. He continued his telecom sector marketing and product strategy work with PRTM, a management consulting firm based out of their Washington DC’s office.

Though most of his pre-Lok Capital experience has been in the private sector, he has worked as consultant to social projects in India and Kenya. Vishal holds an Engineering degree from Delhi University and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Sam Pitroda
Sam Pitroda

Adviser to the Prime Minister Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations Mr. Sam Pitroda is an internationally respected development thinker, policy maker, telecom inventor and entrepreneur who has spent over four decades in Information and Communications Technology and related human and national developments initiatives. Credited with having laid the foundation of India's technology and telecommunications revolution in the 1980s, Mr. Pitroda has been a leading campaigner to help bridge the global digital divide.

During his tenure as Adviser to Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the 1980s Mr. Pitroda headed six technology missions related to telecommunications, water, literacy, immunization, dairy and oil seeds. He was also the founder and first chairman of India's Telecom Commission. In these roles, he helped revolutionise India’s development policies and philosophies with a focus on access to technology as the key to social change.

Mr. Pitroda was Chairman of India’s National Knowledge Commission (2005-2009), an advisory body to the Prime Minister of India, set up to provide a blueprint for reform of the knowledge related institutions and infrastructure in the country. The Commission has offered a series of recommendations on various aspects of the knowledge paradigm to help India meet the challenges of the 21st century.

He is currently Adviser to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations and has undertaken the ambitious task of providing a plan for creating digital infrastructure in the country for enhancing governance and improving delivery of public services. He is also the Chairman of the National Innovation Council (NInC) which is working on several initiatives to boost innovation performance in the country. Mr. Pitroda is also heading the Expert Group for Modernisation of Indian Railways constituted by the Ministry of Railways. He is also the Chairman of the Smart Grid Task Force set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. He has also been appointed one of the founding Commissioners of the United Nations Broadband Commission for Digital Development.

He holds close to 100 worldwide patents and has published and lectured widely in the US, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Sadeesh Raghavan

Sadeesh Raghavan has worked and lived all over the world. He obtained his undergraduate degree at IIT Madras, then his MBA at UCLA USA, and has worked in the US, India, China, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and for the last 4 years has been based both in India and Singapore. He was Managing Director at Accenture where in his last role he ran their Products (Manufacturing & Distribution) practice across North and South Asia Pacific and then most recently all their India businesses. He has spent his career advising MNCs and the top Asian players on their market entry and growth programs and strategies revolving around the rapidly growing Asia Pacific market. He is very active in venture philanthropy and angel investing and sits on numerous boards including the Global Advisory Board and Investment Committee of Acumen Fund, a US based not for profit venture philanthropy fund and India Advisory Board of the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network. He is member of the Indian Angel Network and Business Angel Network of South East Asia and also a member of the Ashoka Support Network.

Ranjani Saigal

Ranjani Saigal is the co-chair for the TIE Boston Social Enterprise special interest group. As co-chair for TIE-SE, she serves as a mentor and provides support to many social enterprises. She has organized over forty events focused on Social Enterprise including three annual conferences including a recent one held at MIT.She works as a Senior Educational Technologist at MIT and has published several papers in the field of Digital Library and teaching with technology.

A very active member of the Indian American community in New England, she is the founder and editor of one the most popular e-magazine Lokvani. Founded in 2001, has over 45,000 subscribers, and has extensively covered key events and featured leading members of the community. A well trained dancer, she has created several productions, which she used to help raise funds for a variety of charitable causes. She is also actively involved with the IIT Alumni network and helped organize two Pan IIT conferences. She received her B. Tech from IIT Bombay and her Masters from University of Massachusetts.

Srikant is a pioneer & leading marketing practitioner, and currently the India Chairperson for Vivaki, a new strategic entity created by Publicis Groupe, for leadership in the digital era. In this role, Srikant has overall responsibility for three companies: Solutions-Digitas (India's # 1 marketing services agency) and two leading media agencies- Starcom Mediavest & Zenith Optimedia Srikant Sastri has been a successful entrepreneur who built market leadership for two innovative companies in India. These are Solutions-Digitas (2500 employees; six countries; South Asia’s #1 marketing services company, and now part of the global Publicis Groupe) & Team4U (India’s leading contract sales force staffing company; 20,000 associates, and now a Randstad company) . Srikant exited from Team4U after the Randstad acquisition in 2007, and remains focused on providing strategic leadership at Solutions-Digitas, and Vivaki India.

Outside of business, he is deeply involved in drawing attention to development issues in Indian society through an initiative called "Growth-For-All"( A lot of his energy is devoted to creating this movement that brings together individuals, corporations, government & NGOs in a collaborative process that brings about real change. In this effort, he is also actively involved in driving the CSR and Social Initiatives efforts in CII (North Region) as well as TiE Delhi. Srikant is an engineer from IIT, Kanpur and an MBA from IIM, Calcutta. While his interests include current affairs, contemporary history, and economic development, he is really passionate about his belief that India is destined to be a global power in this century. To this end, his personal skills & network are deployed on social projects that facilitate inclusive economic development; and, finally, investing time in mentoring young entrepreneurs, especially social entrepreneurs. Specialties: a) Advising companies about doing business in India and Asia. b) Innovative marketing techniques, including digital marketing. c) Mentoring entrepreneurs, including in the social space. d) Getting individuals, organizations and governments to collaborate on CSR, development and social entrepreneurship projects.

Saurabh Srivastava

Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman of CA Technologies, India, is one of India's leading IT entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists. He founded and chaired IIS Infotech which was ranked amongst the top 20 Indian software companies within 5 years of inception and was listed, postmerger, as Xansa on the London stock exchange. He has since founded/invested in scores of startup ventures. He is a cofounder and past Chairman of NASSCOM, the Indian software industry association. He is also on the National Executive Committees of the two apex industry chambers in India, CII and FICCI.

He founded and chaired India's first early stage Venture Capital fund in the private sector, Infinity Ventures and also co-founded the Indian Angel Network, India's first and largest business angel group with over 125 successful entrepreneurs and CEOs. He chaired the Indian Venture Capital Association and is Chairman Emeritus in Delhi of TiE, the world's largest organization devoted to entrepreneurship.He serves / has served on several government committees / task forces / boards such as the Indo EU Round Table, IT Ministry's Committee on software exports, Planning Commission and SEBI Committees on Venture Capital, National and State VC Funds, Media Lab Asia, Railway Expert Committee and Task Forces for two of India’s largest states, UP and Bihar.He is on the Advisory Boards of Imperial College Business School, London; Uttarakhand University and the Innovation and Incubation Centre at IIT Kanpur. His awards include "Distinguished Alumnus" from IIT (K), Honorary Doctorate in Technology from the University of Wolverhampton, UK and Lifetime Achievement award from the IT Industry in India

Anil Swarup
Anil Swarup

Mr. Anil Swarup is the Director General for Labour Welfare and the Joint Secretary of Labour and Employment for the Government of India. Mr. Swarup handles issues related to the welfare of unorganized sector workers. He is the founder of RSBY, the National Health Insurance Program currently targeting low-income families, and is responsible for overseeing its implementation across India on a state-by-state basis. Mr. Swarup previously served in a number of other positions for both the Government of India and the State Government of Uttar Pradesh. Included among Mr. Swarup’s previous positions are Managing Director of the State Financial Corporation (Uttar Pradesh), Secretary of Externally Aided Projects (Uttar Pradesh) and Export Commissioner for the Ministry of Commerce (Government of India).

Chaitanya Tummuluri

Chaitanya (Chait) Tumuluri is Consultant Engineer for Emulex Corporation. He has over 15 years of experience working with all sizes of technology companies in Silicon Valley in various stages of evolution as well as standards bodies such as the IEEE and the IETF. Besides his interests in the field of computer networks and storage, his interests also include socially motivated enterprises and their products especially in the areas of education, energy and livelihood. Chait received his Ph.D in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University (USA).
