On January 21, 2012 Action For India welcomed over 200 guests to IIT-Delhi for the Inaugural AFI Forum.
The stars were 100 Young Social Innovators (YSIs) from around the country, entrepreneurs who are addressing critical social problems and whose organizations are "poised to scale" .
Sam Pitroda and other government representatives including R. Gopalakrishnan, IAS, from the office of the National Innovation Council participated were joined by representatives from the offices of progressive young political leaders including Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for IT and Telecom, and Naveen Jindal, a Member of Parliament.
Eighteen corporate sponsors and partners participated, including corporates such as Intel, Nokia, HP & Spice Mobility and organizations such as TiE, Pan IIT Alumni, Ashoka, Dasra, & Nasscom Foundation.
Some of India's celebrated social entrepreneurs attended including Fabindia chief William Bissell, Educational Initiatives founder Sridhar Rajagopalan, energy expert and TIDE head Swati Bhogle, rural healthcare pioneer Dr Ashwin Naik. Other luminaries included Dilip Shenoy, skill development agency chief, Aditya Natraj, founder of the Kaivalya Education Foundation, and Mark Khan, Founding Partner at Omnivore Capital.
